I was saddened to hear from my sister Sandra that Vernon had passed away. She emailed me here in London Ont just last week to mentioned the wife of another old school chum, Bobby Joyce's wife Emily had passed away. I hadn't seen Vernon for many years but when visiting 3-4 years ago in Louisdale I came across him one morning parked on the side of the road. We renewed old times and he offered me a beer even at that early hour... ha,ha. Vernon gave me a nickname I remember to this day. While playing hockey he called me the 'pocket rocket' because my first name was the same of a famous Montreal Canadian's last name. I remember several times helping him stack shelves in his dad's store after school while waiting for the mail truck to arrive back in the early 60's. My condolences and those of my other family members go out to his family at this time. May the Lord give you comfort and peace at this sad time. Richard Jeffery
