Obituary of James Albert Fougere

FOUGERE, James Albert, Petit de Grat

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Albert Fougere, 73 of Petit de Grat, that occurred at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney on May 22, 2018, after a brief illness. Born in Pictou on November 3, 1944, he was the son of the late Wallace and Anne Anastasia (Boudreau) Fougere. James is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Lucina (Sampson) Fougere; daughter, Kim Arsenault (Gary), Grand-Digue, NB; son, Shaun (Debbie) Fougere, Bedford; grandchildren, Joel, Kate, Zack, Rachel, Samuel and Jacob; sister, Catherine Boudreau, North Sydney; brother, John (Simone) Fougere, Montreal, QC. He was predeceased by his brother in law and best friend, Aloysius Boudreau, as well as, several neices and nephews.

James was an avid hunter, known for his sharp skills and passion for the sport. He enjoyed clam digging and his daily walks in nature.He was always willing to help, whenever called upon. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand children. He also enjoyed taking drives around the island with his friend, the late Aloysius Boudreau, watching ballgames with his friend, Andrew Burch and hunting with his friend, Victor GooGoo.

James was formerly employed by Richmond Fisheries (34 yrs), Sysco (13 yrs) and NovaCan Live Seafood (7 yrs). He was dedicated, loyal and had a very strong work ethic.Visitation will be held at C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat on Friday, May 25^th from 2-4pm & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church in Petit de Grat, Saturday morning May 26th at 11am with Rev. Michel Exalant presiding. Burial to take place in the Star of the Sea Cemetery in Petit de Grat. Memorial donations can be made to his great-nephew, Layton Lavandier (Fund).
