Obituary of Mary Belle Martell

Martell, MaryBelle, 85 (Age), Little Anse, Richmond County – It is with great sadness that the family of MaryBelle Martell announces her passing on August 14, 2018.  MaryBelle died peacefully at St Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 30, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Willie and Obeline Martell. As the owner of MaryBelle’s Canteen, she was well known and loved in the communities of Little Anse and Sampson’s Cove.  She loved playing cards and listening to music.  Strong family values and her faith in God will live on forever in her and those closest to her. MaryBelle is survived by her daughters Della Thibeau (Ted) Petit De Grat; Marlene Martell and her grandchildren Tina Foley (Rich), Brian Thibeau (Julie), both of Halifax; Rodney Thibeau (Grace), D'Escousse, Allana Scanlan (John), Little Anse and Makayla Scanlan (Joe), Halifax. MaryBelle will be sadly missed by five special little people who proudly called her Meme and who brightened her days whenever they visited. She cherished every special moment with Brett Thibeau, Tyson Foley, Isabelle Thibeau, Annik Foley and Emilie Thibeau and could be heard asking about the timing of their next visit even before they had said their goodbyes. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and God children.  She will be missed by Randy Samson who was always there to lend a helping hand. The family would like to thank Doctors MacNeils, the palliative care team at St. Martha's Hospital and caregiver Sandra Boudreau. MaryBelle was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Martell; sisters, Rita, Eva and Mary; brothers, Alphonse, Lawrence and Charlie; grandaughter Micheline. Visitation will be held in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, 633 Veteran's Memorial Drive, Arichat on Thursday from 2-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held Friday morning at 11am in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Petit De Grat with Rev Michel Exalant officiating.  Burial to follow in the Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat. A reception will be held in the Little Anse Social Actions Center, Little Anse. Memorial donations can be made to the St Martha’s Palliative Care Unit.
