Obituary of Joseph Edmond George

GEORGE, JOSEPH EDMOND - 88, Port Hawkesbury, formerly of Janvrin's Harbour passed away January 23, 2012, at the Strait Richmond Hospital with his loving family by his side. He was the youngest son of the late Alexander and Mary (Laurence) George. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lorraine (McGrath) George and six children; Donna, Yarmouth; Gwendolyn (Lawrence) Fougere, Eric (Donna), Daphne (Ronald) MacDonald all of Port Hawkesbury; Susan (Stephen) Pineo, Alb., and Kimberly at home; Edmond is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Valerie, Port Hawkesbury and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son Michael; great granddaughter, Halle MacNeil; seven sisters and five brothers. Edmond's lifelong career, love and pride of fishing never ended with his retirement in 1989 and he spoke fondly of this to anyone who knew him. He was also an avid gardener who took special pride in growing his own vegetables especially his home grown potatoes. Edmond left all of his grandchildren, whom he was so proud of, with wonderful stories that they can treasure forever. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and many. many friends. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, January 27th in St. Joseph's Parish, Port Hawkesbury at 10 am. A private family burial is to follow at a later date.
