Little things about Dad, after all it's the little things that count.
Dad lived his whole life within strolling distance of the house he was born in, making him the quintessential homebody. He was most noted for being a quiet man, a man of few words. Despite this, or maybe because of it, he extended great customer service while running Boyd's general store. He was a devoted son; caring lovingly for his mother. Dad was a 'late bloomer' marrying at 35 and not leaving home until two years later. He was a kind, supportive husband and father. Not being a demonstrative person he expressed his love through concern. He always checked the tire pressure and oil level on the your car before the driving to Halifax. When he asked "How are you?" he meant it, and truly listened to your answer. Dad was an armchair sportsman, enjoying football, boxing, horse racing and formula one racing. Many would be surprised to hear us refer to him as silly. He had a large repertoire of sayings we fondly term "Blaisisms". To request a cup tea: "Ams there tea?" and then upon receiving his tea: "tea....tea...T.E.A. The greatest tea is T.E.A".....such sayings would always be accompanied by a impish grin. Dad's laugh would fill our house and still echoes in our hearts.
I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Blaise. My prayers and thoughts go out to all of you at this very difficult time. God Bless. Claire
