Obituary of Violet Elizabeth Burke

BURKE, Violet Elizabeth, 80 of St. Peter's. It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we, the family of Violet announce the passing of a dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister on May 7, 2014 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Louisdale, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred J. and Gladys (Brow) LeBlanc. Violet was a former member of St. Louis C.W.L and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, St. Peters. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Lloyd), Louisdale, Heather (George), BC, Susan (Mike), Louisdale Lynn, Halifax, Shelley (Dennis), Fort Mac Murray; sons, Ivan, Manitoba, John (Brenda), Dundee and Wayne, Troy; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence (Elsie), Louisdale, Lester (Lee), Malagawash and Earl (Pat), Etobicoke, Ontario; sisters, Louise (Gord), Evelyn, Little Anse, and Agnes, Louisdale. She is also survived by her companion James Neary and his children, Antigonish. She was predeceased by her husband John Bernard Burke; sister, Virginia; brothers, Wilfred Jr., Francis and Peter. Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson Room , Louisdale, on Thursday evening , from 4 - 9 pm. A Celebration of Violet's Life will be held Friday morning, in St. Louis Church, Louisdale at 11 am, officiated by Rev. Angus MacDougall. Reception to follow in St. Louis Parish Hall.
