Keating, William Nicholas "Bill", 84 - It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Bill on July 9, 2014 at QE 11 Health Science Centre, Infirmary Site in Halifax. Born in Rocky Bay, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Alma (Latimer) Keating. While Bill spent over 30 years as a Marine Electrician on the Lakes, he referred to himself as being a lobster fisherman. He lit up the community with his Christmas Lights and entertained everyone with his stories of the past. He loved playing cards with his family and friends and he was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Zita Eliza "Dee" (Kehoe) Keating; daughters, Dianne Kehoe (Michael), Rocky Bay, Beverly Keating - MacIntyre (John), Fall River, Joann Samson (Stephen), Moncton, NB; grandchildren, Nicholas, Nelson, Derek, Brent and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Hailey Grace; brother George Keating, Rocky Bay and Sister Beulah Samson (Danny), Truro. Bill was predeceased by his brothers James, Gus and Rudolph; sisters, Mary, Joan and Kathleen. Visitation will be held today from 2-4 & 7-9 pm in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat. There will be a Eulogy given at 10:45 followed by a Funeral Service that will be held Saturday morning at 11 in St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in D'Escousse with Rev. Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial in St Hyacinth Parish Cemetery, D'Escousse. A reception will be held in the Irish Club, Rocky Bay following the committal. Memorial donations can be made to St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre, Arichat or to the Nova Scotia Alzheimer's Society.
