Obituary of Oakley John Pitts

PITTS, Oakley John - 89, West Arichat passed away December 2, 2014 at St. Anne Centre in Arichat with his loving family by his side. Born in Midland, Mich., he was the son of the late John Edmund and Lillian (DeLong) Pitts. Oakley is survived by his loving wife of fifty seven years, Violet (Covin) Pitts; sons, John (Sheila), Martinique and Gerard (Carmey), Grimbsy, Ont.; grandchildren who he loved dearly, Kristina and Nadia; brothers, Ronnie (Pat) and Orville (Betty) both of Midland, Mich.; sisters, Lorraine Rossong (Ralph), Antigonish, Theresa Richard, Clementsport, and Margie Dorie, Westville. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister Agnes MacDonald and brother, Ervin. Oakley was a former employee of the Department of Fisheries in Pictou as an Engineer for 14 years on the fishing boats; Breton Industrial Shipyard, Point Tupper for 16 years as a Mechanic then finally at Clearwater Limited in Arichat as a maintenance worker for 4 years from where he retired in 1992. His true passions were Trapping, Hunting and Fishing and in spent his spare time as a Taxidermist. Visitation will take place in C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home, in Arichat on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday morning at 11 am in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat, with Father Doug MacDonald officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, West Arichat at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations can be made to St. Anne Centre ER Fund.
