Obituary of Melvin Joseph Landry

Landry, Melvin Joseph, It is with great sadness that we announce the death of a dear brother and uncle, Melvin J. Landry at the age of 97, which occurred at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston on March 20, 2015. Born in Louisdale on November 5, 1917. He was the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Goyetche) Landry. He was a veteran and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, St. Peters. He was a construction worker most of his life and an avid woodsmen. Melvin is survived by his sister Rita Brewer, whom he resided with in Louisdale; brother Cletus (Eva), Edwin (Eleanor), both of Louisdale.He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers Delore and Vincent, sister Eileen Marchand, sister-in-law Bernadette Landry and brother-in-laws Godfrey Marchand and Freddie Brewer. Visitation will be held in the Glen Sampson room, Louisdale Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Louis Church, Louisdale Wednesday morning at 11am with Rev. Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial will take place in St. Louis Parish Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society, Evanston or to the charity of one's choice.
