Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Marchand
Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We, the family of Dorothy Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Marchand, regret to announce her passing on Friday March 25th, 2016. She was 86. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mary (Stoj) Jeffrey. Dorothy's life was devoted to her family. She was the cherished Great-Grandmother of Caleigh (Benoit) and Joshua (Landry). She was greatly loved by her grandchildren Jean-Claude (Donna) Landry, Vanessa (Lenny) Benoit, Alana and Dana Marchand, and Nicholas and Kayla Marchand. Dorothy is survived by her children Judy (Gerald) Landry, Louisdale, Wade (Zelia), Miller Lake, Lionel (Shirley), Port Hawkesbury, Stanley (Paulette) and Marcel (Joanne), both of Louisdale, sisters Stella Sampson and Anna Landry, brothers Leonard (Shirley) Jeffrey, Johnny (Mildred) Jeffrey, Chester (Darlene) Jeffrey, Francis (Anne) Jeffrey, Raymond (Margo) Jeffrey, and Edward Jeffrey, sisters-in-law Edna Boudreau and Mary Marchand, as well as many nieces and nephews, especially niece Stephanie Marchand, who held a special place in her heart. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Raymond and her sisters Alice Marchand and Josephine Burke. As a mother, Mom's compassion and kindness will never be forgotten. Her concern for her family's happiness far exceeded the norm. She loved and was so proud of us all, especially her great-grand and grandchildren. We will never forget the special times the family gathered to enjoy her delicious meat pies, garden stews, gravies, etc. that she prepared with love, always with the same comment: "I don't find it tastes right." Dorothy was a member of the St. Louis C. W. L. and the Fleur de Lis Seniors Club. Her second loves were bingo and a good game of cards. The family would like to thank the ladies of the bingo committee, especially Jean-Marie Landry, for seeing to Mom's comfort each Monday night. We also want to thank Raymond, Margo, Anna, Stella, and Anne, who took the time to play cards with her even when, for Mom, it was a struggle. We also want to thank Marcel and Joanne for looking after Mom over the past year. A heart-felt thank-you to paramedics Rod Samson and Lynn Delorey for the care and empathy they showed to Mom during her final moments. We will never forget your compassion in our time of need. Thank-you to Dr. Laurie McNeil for tending to Mom's needs over the years. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home. Viewing will take place at the Glen Sampson Room in Louisdale from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Tuesday, March 29th. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday in St. Louis Parish Church, Louisdale at 11am with Father Calistus officiating. Donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Alzheimer's Society or the St. Louis Parish Church Renovation Fund.
