LeLacheur, Gordon Ralph, July 4, 1939
It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Gordon passed away May 3, 2016 at St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish. He was the son of the late Robert and Barbra (MacRae) LeLacheur. Gordon was a hard worker, worked various occupations, the last being a snow plow operator but was always a fisherman at heart. He loved when the mackerel would hit hard and have people waiting at the shore for his return. Gordon married the love of his life Annie Florence MacRae in Dundee on June 30, 1962. They lived in Lennox Passage, started spending summers in Dundee in 1978 on the Bra D'or Lake with their daughter and niece Kelly. A physically strong man, he was there to lend a helping hand to family, friends or strangers. Gordon and Annie were married just shy of 50 years, they raised 3 children, the loss of his wife in 2012 took a tole on his health.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Pauline LeLacheur (Theo Martens), Lennox Passage; sons Blair (Perlita), Ontario and Ricky (Bridgette) Chapel Island. The apple of Grampa's eye Pauline's son Morgan, Kayla, Kristen and Meghan; great-grandson Kaleb, (Kayla and Trent). Gordon loved watching Morgan grow up helping him fish, work on cars, take in wood. Wherever grampa was, Morgan was. He loved Morgan and Kaleb play, he got a good laugh. He is also survived by grandchildren, Chyanne, Noah, Tyler, Sarah, Caley and Matthew; great-grand kids Maddison, Nathan, Olivia; brothers, Harold (Pauline), Keswick, Ontario, Harry, (Ann), Lennox Passage; sisters, Emileen Rowe, Martinique and Edna (Allan) MacRae, Port Hawkesbury; several nephews and nieces. Besides his parents Gordon was predeceased by his wife Annie, March 17, 2012; sisters, Ida Matthews, Joan Ross, Barbra LeLacheur; Elizabeth Boucher; brothers, Vincent, Irving, James, Howard, Robert and Alden; brother-in-law Gordon Rowe. The family would like to say thank you to Carmie and Herman for being there, also thanks to Carmie, Barbie, Myrtle, Darlene, Kelly and Morgan for being with Pauline at the hospital and thanks to Kelly, Morgan, Kayla, Trent and Kaleb for being with Pauline at the time of her father's passing.
