Obituary of Ernest Francis DeCoste

DeCOSTE, Ernest Francis - St. Peter's, formerly of West Arichat, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2009 at the Richmond Villa in St. Peter's. Born in West Arichat on September 16, 1909, he was the son of the late Alfred and Sophie (Mury) DeCoste. He was a farmer and worked at various Fish Plants and sold turnips and milk door to door. He sat on the Board of Directors of the Co-op in West Arichat for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife the former Emma Mury of West Arichat, and their children, Lorraine Landry (Carl), Quebec, Merina Babin (Howard) West Arichat, Agnes Power (Richard), Mulgrave, Clothilda Bourget (Hans), Abbotford, BC, Alexander DeCoste (Edith), West Arichat, Bernard DeCoste, Glace Bay, Donalda Breen (Seward), Frankville, Dennis DeCoste (Ann), West Arichat, Emelia DeCoste (Serge), Quebec; twenty three grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sons, Napoleon and Duncan DeCoste; brothers, Gustave, Albert; sisters, Eva, Mae, Priscilla, Aline, and Jeanette in infancy. Visitation will take place in the C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat on Monday from 2 - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to Celebrate the life of Ernest will be held Tuesday morning at 11am in the Immaculate Conception Church in West Arichat with Rev Angus MacDougall officiating. Burial to take place in the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Richmond Villa Recreation Fund, or to the charity of one's choice. A special thanks to all the staff of the Richmond Villa Nursing Home in St. Peter's for the great care that Ernest received during his stay there.
