Obituary of Elizabeth Margaret Power
Please share a memory of Elizabeth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother Elizabeth (Betty) Power on July 20, 2016 at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston surrounded by her loving family. Born in Quincy, Mass, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Mary E. (Duggan) Chisholm of North Grant. Betty attended High School in Mabou and Mount St. Bernard, Antigonish and received her RN from St. Martha's School of Nursing in Antigonish. She began her career at St. Martha's Hospital and later moved to St. Anne's Hospital in Arichat. She was a devoted catholic and a member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Arichat. She enjoyed camping, fly fishing, reading and the years spent in Florida. She was a beloved mother and source of strength, an absolute angel sent from heaven. Her love, patience, kindness and guidance were genuinely endless and her greatest joy was her family. Betty is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Alfred) McNamara of Evanston, Frances Hewings, Lochside, Winnie (Ed) Bungay, Arichat, Joann Power (Pam), Portuguese Cove, Patricia Rioux, Havre Boucher; sons, Gregory (Karen), Pondville and Michael (Gassan), Laval, Quebec; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; sister, Jean MacNeil, Antigonish. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Edwin L. Power, infant daughter, Theresa (twin to Patricia); brothers, Maurice, Frank and Harold and son-in-laws Peter DeCoste and Michael Hewings. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. We loved her dearly but God loved her best. Visitation will be held in C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat on Sunday July 24th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Farewell will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on Monday, July 25th at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating assisted by Rev. Callistus Abazie. Following the committal, a reception will be held for at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150, Arichat, Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Health Foundation, Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or to the charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank the Strait Richmond Hospital Nursing Staff, Strait Richmond Palliative Care and the home care staff for providing excellent care to their mother. Special thanks, to Dr. Steven DeRoche and Dr. Robert Martel. Your dedication and devotion will never be forgotten. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat.
