Obituary of Garry Alphonse Boudreau
Please share a memory of Garry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Boudreau, Garry Alphonse, 65, affectionately known as our one and only "Serial Tiller" left us suddenly on August 19, 2016. He was in heaven before he died having spent the last five years working hard and playing harder in his retirement. Garry built himself an oasis on "the hill", a place where he saw no need to step foot off of. Where else could he sit back and fill his heart with pride having built his house with his very own hands, piece by piece. He worked passionately tilling and re-tilling his garden plot each year in preparation for "Charli's Garden". Garry mastered this game called life living each and every day like it could be his last. Nobody could tell Garry what to do or how to do it. He was stubborn as a mule and tougher than an ox. Fear wasn't a word that fit into his vocabulary. He loved the ocean and could often be seen canoeing across Arichat harbour to Jerseyman's Island or hiking the "back beach", another of his favorite places. Garry found peace in his later years. You could see it in those blue eyes, in his "strut" and in that permanent grin he always wore. Garry was a little man with a gigantic presence. If you were lucky enough to meet him it was a guarantee that you'd never forget him. To us who loved him he was and always will be legendary. Although none of us were ready to let him go, Garry accomplished everything he set out to in his time here on earth. We are fortunate enough to have a piece of Garry still with us, his one and only child Zachary who he was so proud of. He leaves behind a loyal pack of lifelong friends who will miss him at the card table and in the shed. Garry was predeceased by his parents Alphonse and Rita (MacMullin) Boudreau. He was one of eight siblings leaving behind; Barbara Robar (Norm), Stanley Boudreau (Kim), Yvonne Macdonald (Scott, predeceased), Claude Boudreau, Cathy Baker (Gerald), Eileen Poirier (Doug) and Michael Boudreau (Angela). He also leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews included in that his partner in crime and best buddy nephew Joey Landry, his biggest fan and niece Carly Bishop (Andrew) and his favorite little person Charli Bishop who stole his heart when she raided his cherished garden at the age of 2. Please join us on the "hill" and in Garry's home on Saturday, August 27th, 2016, 2:00-8:00pm as we celebrate this great man with food, drink and good company. Garry would have wanted it that way. "Hark, now hear the sailors cry. Smell the sea and feel the sky. Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic."
