Obituary
Obituary of Claire Marie Landry
Please share a memory of Claire to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of our loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, sis in law, aunt, godmother and former school teacher, on September 16, 2016. Each of these roles she fulfilled with the utmost excellence. Claire was born in St. Catherine's, Ontario on June 15, 1949 along with her twin, Jerry. She met the love of her life, Clarence, at the age of 16, married him at 20, had 3 girls between 1974 and 1980, and taught elementary school for 35 years. Too many adventures to list, Claire and Clarence didn't waste a single minute of their time together, or with their 3 girls and 4 grandchildren. From traveling, camping, skiing, boating, biking (she obtained her license at age 49 and rode her own Harley Davidson for 6 years #badass), their motto was always: "a family that plays together, stays together". A talented pianist, Claire loved a good garage party (she hosted many!) and was always the last one to call it a night. She was also a talented seamstress and crafter and will be fondly remembered for always cooking for an army. Claire is survived by her devoted husband of 46 years, Clarence; daughters Shauna (Paul), Dartmouth, NS; Natalie (Justin), Fort Leavenworth, KS; Sherry (Sean), Victoria, BC; grandchildren: Nathaniel, Alexis, Leland and Reese; mother Priscilla, twin brother Jerry (Muriel), and sister Annette (Ronnie); and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Adrian (Hogan) Bourque, and nephew Nathan Kehoe. We are eternally grateful to Claire's care team, especially Dr. Bob Martell and her sister, Annette (RN), and her daughter Sherry, who went above and beyond in making it possible to grant Claire's wish to die in the comfort of her own home. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. There will be a rockin' garage party to celebrate Claire's life on Sunday, September 18th from 6pm to 9pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, Arichat. Please bring your instruments - you know who you are! In lieu of flowers, Claire would appreciate that donations may be made to the ALS Society of NS/NB equipment loan program, or Strait Richmond Palliative Care. Arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat. To send words of comfort to the family please visit www.chboudreau.com
