Obituary of Joseph Cyril Boudreau

Cyril Joseph Boudreau, 85, of Petit de Grat, passed away peacefully on November 26th, at St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish. Born in Arichat, to the late Harry T. and Florence Boudreau (nee Samson). Cyril was married to Pauline Boudreau (Gallant) on December 28, 1957 at Mount Carmel church in New Waterford. After spending his early years sailing the Great lakes and southern destinations, Cyril worked in the community for over 35 years, driving our local children on the school bus for 32 years and running his own plumbing and heating business known as C. J. Boudreau Burner Service - where the catch of the day was frequently accepted in lieu of payment. Cyril often reciprocated kindness with cucumbers from his garden. Cyril is survived by his wife Pauline and children Joseph (Irene), Celeste McLeod (Brian), Jean (Cathy), Robert (Marie), Suzette Parent (Serge), Danette Beechinor (Troy), and Louise (Lorne). Cyril's grandchildren are Callum, Pauline, Simon, Raymond, Mary Ellen, Julie, Thomas, Ginette, Michelle, Natalie, Lucien, Sylvie and Simone. Cyril was the last surviving of his immediate family. His extended family also included his wife's, Rose Salmons (Gile), Bernie (Frances), Celeste (Phil), Sister Claudette, Thomas, Annette Petrie (Late Art), Vince (Dini), Alvin (Colleen) and Andy (late Leona). He was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, George (Zita), Nectaire, Viola Shaw (Doug), and Leona Jabalee (Abe) and his sister-in-law Margaret Samson (a lifelong friend and brother-in-law Odillion). Visitation will be held in C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat Monday November 28th, from 6 - 9 p.m.. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 29th at 11 a.m. in St Joseph's Church in Petit de Grat with Rev. Callistus Abazie officiating. Cremation will follow with burial in the Star of the Cemetery in Petit de Grat at a later date. Donations in memory of Cyril may be made to St. Martha's Hospital or to the Star of the Sea Cemetery Fund in Petit de Grat. To send words of comfort to the family, please visit www.chboudreau.com
The family of Cyril wishes to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to many doctors, including Dr. L. McNeil of Arichat, and the nurses and caregivers at St. Martha's Hospital as well as the Sisters of St. Martha's who were especially kind to Pauline.
