It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Mary Genevieve (Samson) Harris, 91 of Petit De Grat who passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Strait Richmond Hospital in Lower River. Born in Sampson's Cove, on September 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Alvina (Landry) Samson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her early years, she was a factory worker in Mulgrave, where she met her husband Levi. She then devoted her life to raising her family and caring for others. She was a long standing member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Isle Madame Branch 150, Arichat. Besides baking for everyone, she loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays, especially her favorite player José Bautista. She is survived by her children Joan Clannon (Donald Goyetche), Petit De Grat, Judy (David) Kehoe, Arichat, Gary Harris, Petit De Grat, six grandchildren, Shelly Kehoe (Michael Kenny), Timmy Clannon, Sandy (Nicole) Clannon, Carly Kehoe (David Paupin), Noah Kehoe and Jordan Harris, along with two great-grandchildren, Nena Laine Clannon and Myles Thomas Clannon. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Florence Cluett and Annie (Hubert) Coombs, daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Pardy) Harris, son-in-law, Milton Clannon, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Genevieve was predeceased by her siblings Joe, Bernard, Martin and Mary, sisters-in-law Loretta, and Mary Elizabeth (Lamay), and brother-in-law, Joseph. We would like to sincerely thank Dr. Laurie MacNeil, the staff at Strait Richmond Hospital and her Home Support Workers who took exceptional care of our mom.
