Condolences
From Perth, West Oz to Corinne, Don & Family in Arichat, NS we send much sympathy to you all and our hearts are saddened by your loss. Lorenzo was a very genuine and kind individual - a national treasure. For us it was so fortuitous to catch up with Lorenzo & Corinne during our trip to Arichat in Nov 2016 - the Madden & Boudreau families go back a long way and there are many memories to treasure. What more can we say "Farewell Mr Ancestry.com".

Dear Corrine, Don, Jason and family, It is with a heavy heart that Karen and I learned of Lorenzo's passing. My early memories of he and my father chatting at Lorenzo's garage left me with a fondness that only grew with the passing years. His love and devotion to family, community and country are exemplary and will certainly be sadly missed. Family duties in Ottawa prevent me from being present this morning at Lorenzo's funeral. My thought and prayers will be with you at 11 am this morning as we say goodbye to a great man. Gary
One of my first career jobs was a Sales Representative for a large Canadian company. My route carried me 1 week of each month to Cape Breton. My Father had often said, "If you are in Arichat, and have a minute, go to Lorenzo's garage and introduce yourself." It seemed each time I was in that area, it was friday afternoon and I was anxious to get home.
Finally, one lazy day, I had some time and went to the garage, asking for Lorenzo . A lad pointed out this man welding under a car. I approached him and said," My Father told me to look you up if I was in the area."
He took his welding glasses off and asked,"Who is your Father?" I told him and he immmediately called his staff over and announced that ," This is Dan Brittens' son, Dan Jr. His Father and I went off to fight in the war together."
My family members and I always tried to drop in after that show of friendship back in the early eighties.
We last spoke in the late fall of 2016 at his home, Lorenzo, his wife Corinne , my Sister and I.
Dear Corinne and Boudreau Family, Our deepest sympathy in this time of grief. We are united to you all in thoughts and prayers. "Ding-ding"… The sound of two quick rings of the bell as my bike rolls over the hose… I grew up in "down town" Arichat… when there were 2 hardware stores, a grocery store, a motel, a couple of clothing stores, a take-out, a laundry mat and Lorenzo's garage. The garage was the hub for kids on bikes; kids walking the shore; kids going to Emile's for a treat. I can still hear the bell ring as my bike passes over it driving the attendant crazy. "Ding-ding" Lorenzo's was where I heard some of my first political discussions between my father and Lorenzo who certainly were not of the same persuasion! He was the only person who called my mother Margaret instead of Peggy. We had moved from Ontario, then Dartmouth to Arichat where mom worked in the school system and dad opened a pottery. Lorenzo and my father were far apart on many things - politics being one of them. But they had a love of airplanes in common - dad had flown in the Navy and Lorenzo worked on "Cansos" in the air force, an amphibious float plane. I know some of these things because Lorenzo spoke to everyone - even the rag muffin artist kid - like they mattered. Because to Lorenzo, everyone did matter. The love and passion for community lives in his kids, his grandchildren and I am sure the generations to come. Many will remember the walker, or the engaged political citizen… I remember the gentle gas station owner who in a time before drop in centres and hyper organized families gave a daytime home to curious, mischievous kids who were part of his Arichat. "Ding-ding" God bless.
My condolence to the family and friend on the passing of your love one you will be in my through and prayers at this difficult time. RIP Lorenzo

Dear Corinne, family & friends: In Lorenzo, we have lost a great man, a real gentleman, most kind, caring and charitable person. I have known Lorenzo for a long time, had many chats with him all of whom were extremely interesting. He was a walking encyclopedia in the history of Isle-Madame. He was indeed very proud of his Island and made sure to advertise it whenever opportunity knocked. He was really proud of his family and I am certain that from his special place in heaven, he will continue to watch over you. Let the beautiful memories that he has left behind, be a source of comfort for you all. This will help you cope with such a loss. R.I.P. Lorenzo! I feel much richer to have known you and thanks for your wisdom. God Bless You All!
