LANDRY, Ralph Joseph - 85, Arichat, formerly of Petit De Grat, passed away at his residence in St. Anne's Community & Nursing Care Centre in Arichat on May 2, 2009. Born in Petit De Grat, he was a son of the late Ernest and Lilly (Boudreau) Landry. Ralph enlisted in the R.C.E. No. 6 District Depot, Halifax, March 23, 1943. He trained at Yarmouth, N.S. and Petawawa, Ont. He landed in Normandy on D Day. He served in Canada, England, Holland, France, Belgium, and Germany. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star Dec. 45 and 1939-45 War Medal. He is survived by his daughters, Evelyn Jean Higgins, Halifax, Gail Sampson (Kirk) D'Escousse; sons, Glen (Lorena) Janvrin's Island, Barry (Wendy) Petit De Grat; sister, Emma Babin (Alex), D'Escousse; 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Lillian George; brother, Jerome; sister, Genieve. Visitation will be held in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Ralph will be held on Wednesday at 4 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Petit De Grat, with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Burial to follow in the Star of the Sea Cemetery in Petit de Grat. Memorial donations can be made to the Veteran's Comfort Fund. or the ALS Society of Nova Scotia.
