HOPKINS, John Henry, Arichat, formerly of Louisdale, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2017 in St. Anne's Nursing Centre in Arichat at the age of 88 years. Born in Port Hawkesbury to the late Andrew and Margaret (MacEachern) Hopkins. He spent many years as a woodsman and construction worker while living in Kempt Road before moving to Louisdale in 1963. John never met a tree he didn't like and spent most of his life as a forester. He is survived by his brother, John (Sylvia) Hopkins, Louisdale; sister Ida Hutt, Truro; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Kay (Bill) Gillan, Mae (Art) Keefe, Beatrice (Joe) Savage, Sadie and Ella. John and his sister Ella were animal lovers who took care of many strays. There will be no visitation per request. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Louis Catholic Church in Louisdale with Rev. Joe MacKenzie officiating. Burial to take place in St. Louis Parish Cemetery, Louisdale. Reception will following the burial in St. Louis Parish Hall, Louisdale. Memorial donations can be made to Shelby Shines on or to the S.P.C.A. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat.
