Martell, Francis Thomas Sr. �" 97, Antigonish, formerly of Petit De Grat, passed away at St. Martha's Regional Hospital in Antigonish on December 14, 2006 with his loving family by his side. Born in Arichat, he was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Boudreau) Martell. He was a former employee of Richmond Fisheries for 35 years, as a Fish Cutter, retiring in 1973. He is the last surviving member of 13 in his immediate family.
He is survived by daughters, Madeline, Petit De Grat, Edna, Louisdale; sons, Paul (Delia), Arichat, Alfred (Jackie), Petit De Grat, Francis Jr. (Carla) Antigonish; grandson Brian who Francis Sr., raised from birth, as his own son; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Anna (Joyce) Martell, 8 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Visitation will be held at the C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat, from 2 - 9 p.m. today. Mass of Christian burial to Celebrate the Life of Francis will take place on Saturday morning at 11a.m., in St. Joseph's Church, in Petit De Grat, with Rev. Duaine Deveaux presiding. Burial to follow in the Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit De Grat. Memorial donations may be made to St. Anne Community & Nursing Care Centre in Arichat.
