MATTHEWS, Charles Frank - 68, Dundee, passed away October 8, 2010 at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston, with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Dundee, he was the son of the late Frank Alexander and Hilda Rose (MacRae) Matthews. Charles was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 47, Grand Anse. He was a heavy equipment operator and labourer worker. He enjoyed playing cards, Bingo and watching baseball games, especially the Blue Jays who he was a great fan of. He is survived by his daughter Tanya Lynn Marchand and fiancée Roger Chandler, Grand Anse; grandsons, Joel, Matthew and Garett; 5 brothers and 7 sisters. He will also be sadly missed by Marie MacDonald who was like a mother to Charles and Audrey MacRae who was like a daughter and who meant the world to him. Besides his parents he was predeceased 1 sister; a niece and 2 nephews. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in the Black River United Church, Dundee, with Rev, Wayne Yorke presiding. Burial to follow in the Black River United Church Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society.
