Three years ago Connie & I were hosted by the Benoits in Arichat and it was a chance for us to meet cousins we had never met before. I had the chance to sing in the old wooden church. Mary Eleanor was in a wheelchair and couldn't go, and so I sang the Ave Maria to her at her dinner table. She was a most gracious lady and genuinely glad to meet a side of the family she hadn't known before. You are all wonderful people and our hearts are with you. Fred & Connie Taylor, Casper, Wyoming

We wish to extend our sincere condolences to Eleanor's family during this difficult time. I have fond memories of her when we used to "hang out" at the bowling alley. She had infinite patience with the us and her smile was contagious. We thank her and Emile for providing us with such great memories of our youth as I'm sure at times we were a handful! May she rest in peace and may the family be comforted in knowing that she is in the hands of God.
We offer our condolences to Eleanor's family and at the same time celebrate her life and the love and caring given her during that life by her children and by Emile. There was light and joy in her days and the great gift of being cared for at home. Her devotion to her children was reflected in their love and devotion to her, and in particular that of Eduard in recent years. You are a blessing and an example for us all.

The passing of one of the last members of my father's generation brings back all the richness of family ties even though separated by geographical distances. It evokes history and the passing of time. I have many fond memories of visiting Édouard and Eleanor in Arichat in later years. Eleanor was a very distinguished lady, a most gentle soul. To Hélène, Lorraine, Édouard and Charmaine, may you be comforted by the memory of a very special mother.

We were saddened to hear of the death of Eleanor in today's paper. Eleanor and Emile were best friends with my parents, Lucille and Alphonse Comeau when I was born in West Arichat 67 years ago! In fact, Emile and Eleanor were my God parents. Though we have grown georaphically apart, the Benoit family had continued to be in our thoughts. Eleanor was always a distinguished lady in every sense of the word. To Helen, Lorraine, Charmaine and Edouard, our sincere condolences. She lived a long life. May she rest in peace. I will light a candle at our church in Digby in her memory.
