Obituary of Cyril George Landry

Landry Cyril George - 79, of Arichat, died peacefully March 12, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family and lovingly cared for by his grandson Nigel. Born in Petit De Grat, he was the son of the late Simon and Berthamay (Samson) Landry. He was a fisherman for most of his life. His favourite pastime was hunting and in his later years a good game of cards with family and friends and also feeding and watching the birds from his kitchen window. Cyril was a very giving man who would have given his entire life's worth in kindness to family and strangers alike. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of his eye. "Pepe" as he was affectionately known as will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 59 years Lucille; daughters, Gloria Gerroir (Leonard), West Arichat, Claudette Madore (Pierre), Calgary, Celeste Samson (Velma), Arichat; son, Gilles (Tammy), Port Hawkesbury; sister, Madonna Samson, Samson's Cove; brother, Simon (Zabinrose), Louisdale; grandchildren, Nigel, Jacqueline, Laura, Felicia, Sunshine, Jessica, Dylan, Kerry; great-grandchildren, Nicholaus, Dominique, Alexandra, Makayla and Emma. He was predeceased by sisters, Zabeth, Bertina, Lucymay, Evangeline, Bernadette, Christine; brothers, Joseph, Francis, Felix, Newman, Raymond, Colin. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, March 15th at 3 pm at Our Lady of Assumption Church, in Arichat. Fr. Duaine Devereaus will officiate. Burial in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery overlooking his beloved ocean. Donations in his memory can be made to the Strait Richmond Hospital or to the Kidney Foundation (NS).
