Obituary of Peter Gabriel Boucher

Boucher, Peter Gabriel - 91, Arichat. Passed away peacefully on June 17, 2011 at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston, with his loving family by his side. Born in Arichat, he was the son of the late Henry and Minnie (Mury) Boucher. Peter joined the Fourth RCA-Fougere Regiment Chauderes in 1940 in New Glasgow. He then went to England on the SS Ann and went to France, Belgium, Holland on the front line. In 1943 he was wounded from shell explosion and sent to hospital in England. Peter was discharged in 1945. He holds the 39 - 45 Star Medal, France, Germany Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, 39 - 45 War Medal. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 65, Arichat from 1945 - 1947. In 1956 he was a Chartered Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150 Isle Madame and holds a lifetime membership with that branch after 55 years of service. He was a former employee of Booth Fisheries for many years as a foreman and owned and operated the local pool room in Arichat for a number of years. He is survived by his loving wife, Georgina (Richard) Boucher; step-daughters, Margaret Moreau (Paul), Port Hawkesbury, Helen Boudreau (Joe), Dartmouth, Brenda Jeffrey (Bobby), Louisdale, Vonnie McPhee, (Ken), Sault Ste Marie, Ont.; step-son, Wayne Doiron (Mary), Wetaskiwin, Al.; step-brother-in-law, Rene Bouchard, Arichat; step sister-in-law Marg Doiron, Grand Lake; numerous great, great-great and great-great-great grandchildren; brother, Clifford (Rita), Arlington, Mass. He was predeceased by his step- daughter, Hazel Bouchard, step-sons, Jackie and Christian.
Visitation will be held in C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat, on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m and on Monday from 11:30 - 12:30 p.m. Funeral Mass with a Legion Tribute will be held on Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat, with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. I'd like the memory of me
Cremation to follow. Burial will take place at a later date in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Cemetery, Arichat.
Memorial donations can be made to the Veteran's Comfort Fund or to the charity of one's choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat.
