Obituary of Kenneth Joseph Walker

WALKER, Kenneth Joseph, age 73 – Louisdale

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Kenneth Joseph Walker, that occurred at St. Martha’s Hospital in Antigonish on May 29, 2018. Born in Halifax on November 6, 1944, he was the son of the late Frederick and Anastasia (O’Leary) Walker. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife Elaine; daughter Melissa Walker (Yvon Audet), Ottawa; sons Chris Walker (Peggy LeBlanc), Carleton Place, ON, Kevin Walker, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren Tiffany, Shaily, Kyden, Layken; brothers Albert (Jeanette) George, Louisdale, Eldon (Shirley) George, Petit de Grat; sisters Kay Armsworthy, Sheet Harbour, Margaret Barter (Ken), Edmonton; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Hermie and George Walker. Kenny was a devoted husband and dad, very proud of hischildren and grandchildren. A long serving member of the Louisdale Lions Club, Kenny was a steadfast and generous volunteer. Whether it was barbecuing for the extravaganza, selling Christmas trees in winter or watering the flowers in summer, he believed in one’s obligation to serve his community. Kenny was a past member of St. Louis Hall Committee and for many years could be seen behind the bar at wedding dances. He loved music and song and although his memory failed him this past year still remembered the words to every song he ever knew. Kenny will always be remembered for his “unique” sense of humour and his joy in making people laugh. Visitation will be held in Glen Sampson Room in Louisdale on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7–9pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday morning at 11am at St. Louis Church in Louisdale with Rev. Joe MacKenzie presiding. Burial will follow in St. Louis Parish Cemetery, Louisdale. Memorial donations can be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H.
