BATTISTE, April Rose – Potlotek
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of April Rose Battiste, age 38 of Potlotek, on December 25, 2019 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish. Born April 1, 1981 in Sydney, she was the daughter of Peter Arnold Battiste Sr., and Karen Anne Marshall both of Potlotek.
April lived her life to the fullest, her sickness never stopped her doing what she wanted to do, she loves being around her nieces and nephew, she was always up for an adventure with her mother, and with her 2 sisters and also with her children. She always had a smile when she was out in public no matter how she felt. We would like to thank the dialysis team at Strait Richmond Hospital, VG hospital and Dr Pereira, Dr Hamilton Antigonish, Dr Thanamayooran and Dr Hewlett of Sydney.
Besides her parents, April Rose better known as “Purple Rosie” to many, she is survived by her daughters, Sonja Pardoe-Battiste, Eskasoni, Samantha “Sam” Pardoe-Battiste, Potlotek; son Ethan Pardoe-Battiste, Potlotek; grandson John Michael Marshall, Eskasoni; brothers, Patrick (Shandra), Eskasoni, Peter Jr., (Melissa), Potlotek, James (Marcel), Truro, Wilfred, Sandy both of Potlotek, Neil, Eskasoni; sisters Zondra (Kyle), Antigonish, Stacy (Dennis), Potlotek, Jovita, Eskasoni; maternal grandmother, Irene Johnson, Potlotek. She was predeceased by her daughter Emma. Visitation will be held at the home of her mother Karen Marshall at 38 Mi’kmawey School Rd, Potlotek from 4pm on Thursday until Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Funeral mass to celebrate the life of April Rose will be held in St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Peter’s on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John Yake presiding. Private family burial will take place at a later date. A Salite and meal will be held at the Potlotek Community Centre following the mass. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Limited in Arichat.
