I wish I had lived closer to you all and had known him more, but The time I spent with him showed me that he was such a beautiful person. I am so proud to be his niece and be part of such a wonderful family.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy and condolences, AND on the behalf of my two sisters (Diane Boudreau - Truro & Anna White - Darmouth) to the Samson family.

My father (now deceased) had meet Vernon many years ago when Vernon was just a "single guy". I believe they meet at the original NS Hotel in downtown Halifax, where my father was a pastry helper at that time. My Dad & Vernon became great buddies and maintained that special friendship and bond over the years. When I was born, Vernon stood and became my God-father. My sister Diane can remember when Vernon meet Magdalen and he brought her to meet my father. This is the girl I am going to marry and have a great life together ---------and they did. And there were visits to Petit-de-Grat when I was a young lad, I can remember picking cranberries in Little Anse and enjoying the beautiful people who lived there, the smell of the ocean, and the picturesque NS scenery. We also enjoyed Vernon's great cooking talent every time we came.And when Vernon & Magdalen traveled to Halifax, they would always fine time to drop-by and visit my mother & father and rekindle their friendship. My Dad was also a great gardener and perhaps they were trying to figure out how to grow the biggest tomatoes.

We have lost a gentle man, a kind man, a great man and a loving man. And he will be in everyone's hearts forever.

Uncle vernon was very special to our family.he was full of knowledge and culinary arts. At an early age my mom went to work at st Martha's hospital with her 2 brothers Bobby and vernon. She learned how to cook and bake from the best two chefs. We had many family gatherings and he always cooked up a storm and it was yummy. He will be sadly missed. Rest in peace dear uncle. Deepest sympathy to all his family.
