BOND, Mary Leah Alvina, 85 of Petit de Grat.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend who passed away peacefully at the Strait Richmond Hospital on February 18, 2020 surrounded by her family.
Born on September 13, 1934 in Petit De Grat, she was the daughter of the late Jeantie and Felicity (Samson) Boudreau.
With her quick wit, great sense of humour and the use of colourful words, Leah brought smiles to many. She was an avid member of the Isle Madame New Horizons Seniors Citizens Club and enjoyed the company of her friends while at bingo, playing cards and to her home while watching her beloved Price is Right game show. She was an employee of Booth’s Fisheries / Richmond Fisheries for 45 years and completed her working years as a para-professional at the Petit de Grat elementary school. She was well respected and will be sadly missed by many.
Leah is survived by son Shaun, Sydney and daughter, Shauna Boudreau, Cap la Ronde; her five beautiful grandchildren: Noel and Elyse Boudreau (son in law Gary); Zackery, Marissa and Gracie Bond, whom she loved and adored; her brother Venard Boudreau (Mary Elizabeth), brother-in-law Victor David; many nieces and nephews; best friends Tillie Landry and Anne Samson; and all her remaining family and friends including her caregiver Muriel Benoit.
Besides her parents, Leah was predeceased by her husband Armand of 55 years; brother Alzear Boudreau (Freda), sisters Edwina Boudreau, Zita Boudreau (George) and Clarisse Samson (Sylvester); daughter-in-law, Deanna Bond, infant granddaughters, Myah and Sarah Bond; and best friend, companion and kindred spirit Carl Boudreau.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat on February 24th, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A Celebration of Leah's life will be held on February 25th at 11am, at St. Joseph’s Parish Church, Petit de Grat with Rev. Michel Exalant officiating. A reception will follow at the parish hall. Leah will be laid to rest in the Star of the Sea Cemetery in Petit De Grat at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Anne’s Community Centre or the Strait Richmond Palliative care society.
A special thank you goes out to all the doctors, nurses and staff of the St. Martha’s Regional Hospital and the Strait Richmond Hospital and to staff of VON Home Care for all the care and compassion that was provided to mom during her extended stay.
