Please accept condolences from myself and Colleen on Vernon's passing. I am Celeste's brother and remember many times in the summer watching Vernon playing for the Red Caps. He took the time to teach me some of the finer points of the game and was a person who would take the time to show an interest in whoever he had the chance to meet. To Nell, and the rest of the family, please accept my condolences for your loss. Alvin Gallant

Growing up , my father would share many memories of Vernon playing with the Red Caps & I often heard about his love & passion for the game . It was only when I coached his grandson Brett , that I got to witness that love & passion first hand . He would be at every game , right there against the fence , right next to the dugout , where he would give every kid the advice they needed , & he would give the coach advice too :) & once in a while , maybe the umpire would get some advice as well !! . Thank you Vernon for all the laughs & all the great memories . My deepest condolences to Nell , Michelle , Scott , Brett & Vernon's entire family . R.I.P Vernon !! . Baseball in heaven just got a lot better !!!
