KEATING, Zita Eliza “Dee”, Rocky Bay
It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Zita Eliza “Dee” Keating of Rocky Bay, who died at her home in Rocky Bay on August 8, 2021. Born in Arichat, August 30, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Theopilus and Ellen (Doyle) Kehoe. She is survived by her daughters, Dianne Kehoe, Rocky Bay, Beverly Keating-MacIntrye (John) and Joann Samson (Stephen), both of Riverview, NB; grandchildren, Nicholas, Nelson, Derek, Brent, and Sarah; great grandchildren, Nathan, Ruby, Hailey Grace, Logan, Connor, Emily and Sophie; sister, Rose Bowen, Rocky Bay. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William Nicholas “Bill” Keating; brother, Gerald Kehoe; sisters, Mary Ellen Rogers, Ann England and her son-in-law, Michael Kehoe. Dee took great pride in working at St. Ann’s Centre. She was infamous for her cooking and making wedding cakes. She was a proud member of the Rocky Bay Irish Club and especially enjoyed the quilting club and the ladies that were part of it. Mom was a “people person”; she would often say “the more, the merrier”. She looked forward to hosting her weekly card games with her dear friends and catching up on the latest “news”. As her health declined, she was adamant about passing away at home and with the help of care-taker, Vivian Short, the home care team, and as mom called them, “great neighbours”, her wish was granted. Many thanks to Dr. MacNeil for such compassionate care over the years. Visitation will be held at C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, Arichat on Tuesday, August 10th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Farewell will take place in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat on Wednesday, August 11th at 11 am with Rev. John Baptiste DeCoste officiating. Burial to follow in St. Hyacinth Cemetery, D’Escousse. Social distancing, wearing of masks and sanitizing will be enforced due to Covid-19. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Dee can be made to the St. Ann Centre in Arichat.
