It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful and precious mother, grandmother, wife, sister, auntie and friend Mary Theresa Linden.
Theresa was born on March 3rd, 1946 to the late Roseanna(LeBlanc) and James Benoit
In her early years, she worked at Booths Fisheries then met the love of her life. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years caring for her family and a few other children along the way. Theresa spent a few years working for Steamatic and then at the Strait Richmond Hospital. She enjoyed her time there and made some lasting friendships along the way. Our mother also spent many years volunteering in our community. She volunteered for the heart and stroke foundation as well as diabetes, and cancer society. She spent many years as a leader with the Brownie and Girl Guides of Canada and organizing the Terry Fox Run. Our mother also was a volunteer with the Louisdale Lioness Club for many years and she was at the hall and on the phone asking for donations during every funeral helping all the dedicated ladies in our community. There were also fundraisers and community meals and she was always there to lend a helping hand. Her shining moment was receiving the Howard Jeffrey Volunteer of the year award.
Theresa is survived by her husband of 54 years, Herman J Linden. She is also survived by her children Audrey(Sheldon Hynes), Rhonda(Peter Covin), and Donny(Sherry).
Her cherished grandchildren that she adored, Hailey(JeanMarc)Tyler, Emily, Ashlyn, Devon, and Kyle. She loved watching them play sports and especially spending time with them at the cottage. That was her happy place to have everyone around her.
She is also survived by her sisters Anne Marie White, Claudette(Armand) Boudreau, Mary Louise (Vernie) Martell, Geraldine(Dan) Parent, Pauline(Joe) DiIoreo; brother Armand (Carolyn) Benoit, sister-in-law Therese Benoit.
She is also survived by her in- laws Jeanette George, Dora Linden, Julia Marchand, Dave (Cathy)Linden, Delores Linden, as well as countless nieces, nephew, and their families.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother Rene Benoit, sister Lillian Benoit, brother in law Rick, great-nephew Bradley German, her in-laws James and Helen Linden, brothers- in- law Patrick, Ambrose and James Linden, Albert George, Johnny Marchand, sister- in-law Edna & Ernest Poirier, nephew Blaine Linden.
The family would like to say a very heartfelt and sincere thank you to the following: all the doctors and nurses from the Cancer care centre in Sydney to the strait Richmond Hospital and the Palliative Care Unit with Dr. Cooper, Leah, and Kyla who went over and above to fulfill our mother’s final request to remain at home. We will never forget your kindness and compassion. To all our family members who helped care for our mother at home, we are forever grateful. And last but not least, to the people of Louisdale, you make us so proud to say where we grew up because there is no community that comes together in times of need like you do. Thank you will never be enough.
Our mother showed us how to be brave in the face of devastating news. How to push on and fight every step of the way and not to complain. We are beyond proud and grateful that God chose her to be our mother.
