Obituary of Mary Edith Marchand
Please share a memory of Mary Edith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Mary Edith Marchand, which occurred on September 8, 2021, at the Strait-Richmond hospital at the age of 85, with her loving family by her side, after a short battle with cancer. Nanny was our rock and our lives will forever be changed. She spoke with a lot of pride when discussing the accomplishments of each and every one of her children and grandchildren. Nanny took pleasure in the simple things life had to offer. She loved to play bingo and go on bingo tours with her niece, Shirley; she enjoyed playing cards and loved to have her hair done and to dress up to go to Church. Nanny had great faith and would never want to miss mass. She would always be ready early and would call her ride if they weren’t there on time. She was a long-time member of the Fleur-de-Lis Seniors Club and St. Louis CWL and always looked forward to any events that they had planned. Her biggest source of happiness came from her family, and she was well known for her ability to cook. Born in Little Anse, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Minnie Samson. She is survived by her sons Gary, Louisdale, Bradley (Danette) Sackville, and Adrian (Francine) Brampton, Ontario, daughter Marlene (Darryl) Louisdale; 12 grandchildren Amy (John), Courtney (Alfred), Noel (Ariel), Joel (Sarah), Aaron (Ainslie), Amber, Matthew, Garrett, Leslie (Jordan), Connor (Nicole), Alyssa, and Emilie; 9 Great-grandchildren, Addison, A.J., Sophie, Olivia, Avery, Noah, Calder, Dillon, and Mylo; sisters Margaret, D’Escousse, Yvonne, Louisdale, brothers Leopold (Eileen) and Harold (Linda), Louisdale, her brother-in-Law, Benny Marchand, sisters-in-law, Barb, and Lydia, along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by the love of her life, Emile Marchand, her husband of 47 years, sisters Martha and Mary, brothers Leo, Ralph, and Fred Samson. The family owes a debt of gratitude to the Palliative Care team, Dr. Cooper, Leah and Kayla, Dr. DeRoche, Dr. McCormick, Dr. Beecham, Cancer navigator Allison Kelly and the wonderful caring staff of the Strait Richmond Hospital. Cremation has taken place and visitation will take place at the Glen Sampson Room in Louisdale on September 17 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will take place at St. Louis Church on Saturday, September 18 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Family flowers only, please. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Glen Sampson Room and Strait-Richmond Palliative Care.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home , Arichat. To send words of comfort to the family or to light a candle in memory of Edith, please visit www.chboudreau.com
