LAFFORD, Madeline Helen, 24 of Halifax/Potlotek
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Madeline Helen Lafford of Halifax, formerly of Potlotek, that occurred at the QE II, Halifax on September 26th at the age of 24 years.
Born August 25, 1995 in Antigonish, she was the daughter of Harriet Battiste, West Bay, and Benji Lafford, Eskasoni.
She is survived by his brothers, Stephen Lafford (Amanda Marshall), Benjamin S. Lafford , both of Potlotek, foster brother, James Lee (Mandy) Worthen, Calgary, Alberta; sisters, Mary Susan Lafford (Eddy Johnson) Potlotek, Santana Battiste, Eskasoni, foster sister, Bernadette Worthen, Halifax; foster parents, Alfreda and Barry Worthen, Mt. Uniacke; Godfather Vincent (Boi) Battiste, Potlotek; Godmother Marlene Jullian, Potlotek; nieces and nephews, Harmony, Jennifer, Zachary, Evelyn, Tyson, Linden, Casey, Parker, Brody and Evangelina; she is also survived by the love of her life and best friend, Thommy Drolet, Halifax.
She was predeceased by her brother, Allan Stewart Lafford, Jacob Battiste; aunt Helen Battiste; maternal grandparents, Jacob and Madeline (Nicholas) Battiste.
Visitation will be held today, Monday, October 4th at 4 PM until Wednesday, October 6th at 1:30 PM in the Blessed Ketari Tekakwitha Chapel, Potlotek from where a Celebration of Madeline’s life will be held at 2 PM with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial to be held In the Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery in Barra Head.
A Salite will be held at the Potlotek Community Hall in Potlotek following the committal. Social distancing and protocols for Covid-19 will be enforced.
Social distancing, sanitizing and the wearing of masks are mandatory. As of October 4th, the Proof of dual vaccination will be required for all funeral services, including visitations and receptions, as all are considered gatherings under the Proof of Vaccination Policy.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.
