Samson, Douglas Arthur, 61, Upper White Head, NS
It is with broken hearts, that we, the family of Douglas Samson have to announce his sudden passing at the QE11 Health Sciences Centre in Halifax on October 3/2021.
Born in Arichat on March 27, 1960. He was the son of the late Vander & Alvina (Samson).
Doug was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Port Felix. He was a lifetime member of the Canso Lions Club, member of the Three Top Volunteer Fire Dept, White Head Community Association. He was a minor hockey coach for many years and coached baseball. His volunteer work was far-reaching and immeasurable in the surrounding areas.
Doug worked most of his life in the fishing industry and most recently at Bill & Stanley Oyster Co in White Head.
He is survived by his loving wife Kay (Bond) of 34 years; stepdaughter, Heather Launt (Jason), Tantallon; step-grandchildren, Brooklyn & Dawson Launt; brothers Ronald (Genny), Italy Cross, Donald (Rose), Port Hawkesbury. Gerard (Mary Ellen), Arichat. Darren (Jackie) Fort McMurray; Sisters, Darlene Short (Harvey) Samson’s Cove, Colleen Smith (Craig), Little Anse, Joann Green, Truro; godchildren, Sasha Benoit and Shelly Neil; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Wayne & Betty Ehler, White Head. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ronald & Shirley Bond, Canso. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews along with a mountain of friends.
Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his nephews Shane Samson and Carmen Casey; brother-in-law Derrick Samson; mother and father-in-law Elizabeth and Alonzo Bond.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home, 633 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Arichat, NS on Friday evening October 22, 2021, from 6-9 pm and on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:30. Funeral Mass, to celebrate the life of Doug, will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Petit de Grat on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at 11 am with Rev. John DeCoste officiating. Burial to follow in the Star of the Sea Cemetery, Petit de Grat. Memorial donations can be made to St. Joseph’s Parish, Port Felix 2868 Hwy 316, Port Felix, NS B0H 1T0.
In compliance with Nova Scotia's COVID-19 public health regulations, proof of double vaccination and a picture ID must be shown to attend the visitation or funeral.
