LERUE, Josephine Marilyn, St. Peter’s
It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of a loving wife, mother, and sister, Josephine Marilyn Lerue, St. Peter’s, that occurred at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish on April 12, 2022 at the age of 68 years.
Born in Sampsonville on April 6, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Omer and Margaret “Peggy” (Sampson) Savoie.
Josephine was a graduate of the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital (NWCH) School for Nursing Assistants. She worked at Camp Hill Hospital in Halifax for one year before returning to St. Peter’s where she worked at the Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s for 38 years.
Josephine is survived by her loving husband Wayne Joseph; and her son, Spencer Lerue, both of St. Peter’s; brother, Raymond, (Annie Mae), Ontario; sisters, Claire (Leo) LeBlanc, St. Peter’s, Caren (Billy) Robertson, Dartmouth, Wilma (Charles) Martell, Rockdale, Valerie George, Port Hawkesbury, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Billy Savoie, Alec Savoie; sister Georgina MacDonald; brothers-in-law, Douglas Mombourquette, and Michael George.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. Funeral Mass to Celebrate the Life of Josephine will be held on Monday, May 2nd, at 11:oo am, in St, Peter’s Catholic Church, St. Peter’s with Rev. John Yake officiating. Burial to follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Church Cemetery, St Peter’s.
It is requested that face masks be worn for the funeral mass and burial.
Memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (NS).
The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital ICU, and also to the Strait Richmond Hospital Palliative Care, and the Home Care Workers in St. Peter’s for their kindness and compassion.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.
