Condolences
My late husband Wade and I had known Paul and Dianne since we moved into the condo where Dianne was the superintendent and Paul was the maintenance guy. Two of them worked hard to keep the building in top shape.
Paul could fix just about anything. He often found the vacuum cleaners people threw out and fixed them up and gave them away to whoever needed them. He could also fix the electric appliances that were beyond repair and gave them the second life. He often attributed his skills to the teaching of his father. Paul never read manual but was able to put things together which marvelled me.
Paul liked to whistle, sing and play his keyboard. He could play it by ear and compose his own music beautifully. After Dianne passed away, he found it peaceful and therapeutic playing the steel tongue drum. Music is Paul’s way to cope with life’s adversity.
Paul loved animals. He was very kind and gentle with them and they loved him as well.
Paul was very generous and would not take payment easily if he did anything to help people.
In spite of all his pain, Paul always greeted you with a smile. He was resilient and refused to give up. His determination and courage to live his life is something I will always remember.
Rest in peace, Paul.
Uncle Paul was one of a kind. Always cracking jokes, telling stories, and never having those damn dentures properly in his mouth. Always making faces when we were younger for a good laugh. He was a man of giving, always wanting to give to others, I still hold some of his possessions and will remember him fondly by same. I am so happy to know he is not in pain anymore and at ease. Though you wanted to walk again and finally get that prosthetic working right for you, you’re now flying in paradise above us all. I’d say that’s a pretty unique trade but in the best possible way.
RIP to my dear Uncle Paul. Paul will always be remembered in our family for the laughter and fun he brought to our events and gatherings. He was constantly entertaining with his wild stories, funny faces for cracking up the kids, and his cheerful nature. As an adult I also have a new appreciation for the support and love Paul shared with his siblings. I know he and my Mom had an important bond and I am grateful they got to stay close throughout their lives. Sending love and strength to all of Paul’s friends and family, wish I could be there for the ceremony. ❤️
Paul, Pépère,
You enriched our lives with love, kindness and joy. I first met you through my Mother when I was 13. You were so tenacious that she eventually said yes to your many dates requests. As time progressed, you became the couple that conquered many obstacles, especially with my Mother's battle of 20 plus years, of her infamous cancer. So much laughter, and memories we will cherish forever. You became a grandfather , known as "Pépère" to both Anneka and Luc and Papa Paul to Alex, Sam, Nicholas, and Christian and supported them in accomplishing so many milestones. We will always remember the annual road trips to Brockville, Ontario. The vividness, of you running with one leg and crutches to race the kiddos at Canada's Wonderland, the swimming competitions, the dancing, the camp fires with sing-alongs and the playing of the piano at the house. You quickly earned our family's respect with your strong values such as your love towards our family, your perseverance, your work ethic, your positive mindset and your priorities. You would always say " never give up" and you would always be the first one to extend a " helping hand". On December 21, 2022 we were saddened to see you go but we find peace with the bravery you demonstrated.
I conclude by sharing two quotes:
“That man is a success – who has lived well, laughed often and loved much, who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of children, who has filled his niche and accomplished his task. Who leaves the world better than he found it, who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it, who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.” – Unknown
This one is to make you smile, Paul, as you know how much my Mom loved Pooh and resonates our sentiments.
“If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.” – Winnie the Pooh
Before you left our planet, you said you are going to heaven and will meet my Mother. As I gaze towards the sky, I see this true. You enlightened our lives and will always be a shining star!
Love you
Freda, Anneka and Luc

I was shocked and saddened when I got the call from my cousin Debbie telling me about Paul's passing. Words can't express how sorry I feel. Even though we lived far apart, we always stayed in touch. I will miss our long phone chats and reminiscing about our families.... I'll always remember how he would dive for scallops for me when he knew I was coming to Louisdale for a visit. Our deepest condolences to Debbie and the rest of the family -- take comfort in knowing he has gone to a far better place and that he is reunited with his love, Diane.
