DOIRON, Darlene Lynn
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darlene Lynn Doiron of Louisdale that occurred at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish on March 10th, 2023 at the age of 62 years with her loved ones by her side, after her short but courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born June 13th, 1960 in Arichat, she was the daughter of Shirley Christina (MacDonald) Burke, Grand Anse, and the late Anthony Donald Isaac Burke
Darlene did not let her diagnosis slow her down, while battling cancer she continued to work and care for her mother and partner Chester until the very end. She was so very proud of her grandchildren, and always spoke of them with such love and pride. Darlene loved her job and her chats with customers passing through the drive thru, and her work family at McDonald’s who were so good to her throughout her diagnosis.
Darlene was one of a kind, with her smile as her heart. She was loved and admired by her family, friends, co-workers and all that knew her. She welcomed Shannon MacDougall and her boys Logan, Brayden, and Oliver as if they were always family. She adored Shannon and it always made her so happy that her and her boys came into Shane and his kids lives. Being that type of person she also loved and admired Chester's children, Christopher and Vanessa, and his grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by her son, Shane Doiron (Shannon); grandchildren Tucker, Tanner, Sophie, and Kayla; long-time companion and best friend, Chester Paul Jeffrey; sisters Ann, Claire, and Judy; brothers Peter “Sonny”, Ronald “Ronnie”, Gerald, Gary, and Calvin, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends and co-workers.
Besides her father, she was predeceased by her sister Colleen; brothers Garvey, and William “Billo”; maternal grandparents Hughie Neil and Daisy MacDonald and paternal grandparents Amable and Ida Mae Burke.
We want to extend a special thank you to Darlene’s cousin Bonnie who accompanied her to all her cancer appointments, the Palliative Care Unit, and Dr.Cooper at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital for their care, compassion, and support for Darlene and the family throughout Darlene’s final days.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 20th in the River Bourgeois Community Resting Place in River Bourgeois from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
