Robert S. “Bobby” DeWolf (74) of Arichat, N.S. -
The world got a little less fun, as Robert Stanley “Bob” DeWolf passed peacefully Tuesday, April 25, 2023, surrounded by family in the palliative care unit of St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish, N.S.
He was a devoted husband. He was an encouraging and supportive father. He was a silly grandpa. He was a dependable brother. He was a favourite uncle. He was a good friend.
He was an original.
Bob believed that “any job worth doing, is worth doing right.” He also felt pretty strongly that most jobs were worth retiring from at first opportunity. He could easily find a good time, or create one if it didn’t already exist. He loved sailing, fishing, hunting, and ATV-ing. He made friends wherever he went, including as a Nova Scotia Power lineman for 30 years, and as a founding and active member of the Lennox Passage Yacht Club.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Marie (Bowen) DeWolf; children Peter (Amy) and Sandy (Paul); adored granddaughters Ally and Priya; siblings Rose Booth, Joseph DeWolf, Edwin DeWolf, and Mary Poirier; brother-in Vernie Bowen and sisters-in-law Catherine Bowen, Joan DeWolf, Catherine DeWolf, and Susan Hines-Bowen; many nieces and nephews, and border collie Tut.
He was predeceased by parents Frederick Leo DeWolf and Mary Martha (MacIsaac) DeWolf; siblings Elizabeth (DeWolf) Brooks and Thomas “Tommy” DeWolf; brothers-in-law Keith Booth, Russell Poirier, and George Bowen, and sister-in-law Patricia “Patsy” DeWolf.
While the world is definitely not as bright as it once was, we have a never-ending supply of fun stories and shared memories to help heal the pain.
A special thank you goes out to Dr. Laurie MacNeil, Dr. Phillip Cooper, Dr. Daniel French, and the staff of St. Anne’s Centre, Cape Breton Cancer Centre, Victoria General Hospital, and St. Martha’s Regional Hospital.
Cremation has already taken place and there’ll be no visitation. A fitting celebration of Bob will be held at a future date. Memorial donations can be made to the Lennox Passage Yatch Club.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.
