Obituary of Francis Joseph MacDonnell

Francis J. MacDonnell, 69, of River Bourgeois, Richmond Co., died August 11th, 2023, at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston after a lengthy illness. Francis J. was the son of Donald and Annie Margaret (Beaton) MacDonnell of Mabou, Inverness Co., N.S... Francis J. is survived by his son, Jeffrey Lawrence, siblings; Ellen (Earl) Hearn, Jackie (Pam), Burke (Georgette), Donelda, David (Emilie), Raymond (Debbie), and Anita. He is also survived by step brothers, Jerome, and Donnie (Mary) MacDonnell. Francis J. was predeceased by his longtime partner, Serena Clannon. Francis J. worked across Canada in the trucking and construction industry as a long-haul trucker and equipment operator. He had a great love of antique vehicles and attended, and participated, in many car shows. He enjoyed good food and a cup of tea during visits where he took delight in being the first to get the news. He made many good friends and kept them. They did not forget him during his illness, with regular calls and visits. A special thank you from his family goes to John Francis MacDougall, Donald MacDonald, Alexander MacQuarrie, and Daniel MacDonell for always being there for him. Francis J.’s family would also like to thank his caregiver Eva Robertson, the Continuing Care nurses, and the doctors, nurses, and support staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital for their compassionate care. There will be no visitation by his request. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023, at 12:00 noon at the Holy Guardian Angels Cemetery, L’Ardoise.
