Obituary of Cecily Ann Maltby

Our Heavenly Father has called his faithful servant home. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Cecily Ann (Kehoe) Maltby, age 82, on November 20th, 2023 at St. Anne’s Nursing Home in Arichat with her loving family by her side. Born at home in Rocky Bay on April 19th, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Ethelbert and Mary Edna (Bowen) Kehoe. Being good with numbers, Cecily worked as a bookkeeper for a local business at an early age. Following the tragic death of her husband Simon, with the support of her family, she overcame many obstacles to raise their children. She enjoyed spending her time playing a good game of cards, bingo, and making chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren. Cecily had a strong faith and fervently prayed the rosary for family and friends. She will be sadly missed by her children Darlene (Remi) Deveau, Antigonish, Judy Maltby, Port Hawkesbury, Blair (Dee-Anne), Port Hastings, Joey (Tanya), Rocky Bay, Elaine (Gary) MacRae, Sugarcamp; grandchildren Rebecca (Jonathan), Allana (Zach), Kyle, Alexander, Simon, Annie, Travis, Tyson, Lucas, Daniel (Pyper), Megan, as well as great grandchildren Amelia, Jack and Anna. She is survived by her twin brother George (Claire), Rocky Bay, as well as her other siblings, Carol (Ron) Joly, Antigonish, Lauchie (Cathy), River Bourgeois, Dennis (Sharon), Kentville, Jane (Brian) Dorey, Rocky Bay, sister-in-law Dianne Kehoe; brother-in-law Louis (Claire) Maltby. Besides her parents, Cecily was predeceased by her husband Simon Maltby and brother Michael Kehoe. The family would like to thank Dr. MacNeil, Dr. Cooper, Kyla MacKeigan RN, as well as the staff at the St. Anne Nursing Home for the care and kindness they provided to Cecily. Visitation will be held on November 23rd at the C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat from 6-8pm. Funeral will be held November 24th, at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat at 11am with Rev. John DeCoste officiating. Burial in St. Hyacinth Cemetery, D’Escousse on May 8th, at 11am. A reception to follow the mass in Our Lady of Assumption Parish Hall in Arichat. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Anne’s Centre to purchase a towel warmer. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C. H. Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.
