Agnes Bernadette Johnson 92 Agnes Bernadette Johnson (nee Battiste), beloved matriarch and devoted mother, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2024 at the age of 92. Mom was raised by her grandparents, the late Mary (Basque) and Ekkian Battiste, along with her ‘sisters,’ the late Madeline Battiste and Pauline Marshall. She will be dearly missed by her 13 children, 54 grandchildren, 88 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren and their families. Mom had a passion for cultivating beautiful flowers, which brought joy to her heart and surroundings. Her garden was a vibrant tapestry of colors, reflecting her nurturing spirit and love for nature. In addition to her green thumb, mom was known for her culinary talents, especially her lusknikn and molasses bread. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting aroma of freshly baked pipnaqn, cake and cookies. She enjoyed playing bingo in the surrounding communities and was always ready to play a game of cards with her daughters. Her other great love was the babies She enjoyed meeting each and every one and took the opportunity to spend time with the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Mom was devoted to St. Anne and attended religious pilgrimages in Ste. Anne De Beaupre, Guadalupe, Medjugorje, Rome and Lourdes. She had a love for reading and kept her mind sharp and quick, by completing puzzles, crosswords. and watching game shows. She will be remembered for her kindness, humour, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Her gentle demeanor and warm smile touched the lives of all who knew her. Mom leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Agnes was predeceased by her husband, John Duncan Johnson, sons, Richard and Terrance (Indian), mother, Susie Vincent, sister, Mary O’Toole, brother, Eugene Vincent and two granddaughters, Autumn Johnson, Lacey Boyce and great granddaughter, Ensley MacDonald. Agnes is survived by her daughters Donna (late James Lameman), Darlene Paul (Gally Andrew), Diane Basque (Kenny), Margaret, Lorena Tracey (John), Trina Denny (Terry), Lynn Boyce (Geoff), and special daughter, Melanie Paul. She is also survived by sons John Duncan Jr, Dwayne, Darrell, Claude and special son, Jeff Johnson. The wake will begin on Thursday, March 7th, 2024 at 3pm and will be held at the family residence (50 Backland Road). A celebration of Agnes’ life will be held on March 9th, 2024 at the St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Burial will take place at St. Anne’s Church, Miniku on June 19th at 11am. We ask that you do not wear scented products. Please do not bring food containing peanuts. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to CH Boudreau Funeral Home Ltd., Arichat.
