Linda Johnston (Boudreau)

My deepest condolences to the family. Gary, your art has always inspired me to create and explore artistically. I am forever grateful for your kindness and encouragement toward me and my family. Rest in peace, you will be missed by many.
My deepest condolences to you Shelby and to your siblings and family. I met Gary 5 years ago.. both being from Isle Madame but had never met before. We introduced ourselves as " Jerome Benoit's daughter and Joe the Barber's son " and you have been a part of my everyday ever since. You were incredible.. your musical and artistic talent, your generosity to others, your humility , your sense of humour and dedication to family were second to none.
I will miss our daily conversations, your Tim Hortons hockey picks ( thanks for the week of free coffee lol ), your entertaining phone messages your smile and most of all your love and support. I have incredible gratitude that you were a part of my life.
May your soul be at peace... and til I see you again. Much love.
Sincere condolences to Gary’s family. I first met him in 1994, when he was living in New Glasgow and his group – Midnight Train, if my memory is good – was at the Social Action Center in Little Anse, then the Janvrin Island festival. I was a trombone player who had just been introduced to country music, and I enjoyed his performances more and more as I became more familiar with the genre. I’m still playing but, unfortunately, the trombone was never a good fit for his shows! My sympathies extend to his fans and the music community.
Shelby and Family

Gary, whenever I see a goalie in the Hockey net, I think of you and our school days.
You were so detailed and magical on those drawers that I ask you to show me how to draw one and you did. We would talk about music and our school days. Always a smile and a laughter when we talked about the past and the present. I never forgot that and never will. Till we meet again my friend, Good bless and I'll see you on the other side for more smiles and laughter. Good bye.

One memory that stands out is kne time playing at Papas Pub when he sang the Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks, he dedicated it to me because I was pregnant. He sure was a beautiful singer & great entertainer. Sending you big hugs Shelby. Love you. He'll always be with you.

Rest easy Gary you will never be forgotten . I’m sure you are singing with the angels choir.
My cousin Gary was always kind and friendly, He was always ready to help. Gary was such a talented person, gifted both in singing & painting & in the way he cared about people. He will be missed by so many . The painting that he did for me for my 60th Birthday hangs proudly in my living room and is even more special to me now. I will think of him every time I look at it. My condolences to all his family.
Shelby and the rest of Gary’s family. We were heart broken to hear that Gary had passed. He was a very talented man in many ways. Kind, caring and compassionate. He was a soft spoken man with an amazing voice. I remember the first time we heard him sing, we thought it was Allan Jackson on stage. We went to hear him play at the Legion a few weeks ago and had a nice chat with him. His voice was still magical. We were friends for over 30 years, he played and sang many times at our home. We are very fortunate to have several of his works of art in our home. By now he has joined the choir in Heaven and is no doubt teaching the angels how to put a country flair to the hymns. He is with his mom now who he spoke of so often and how much he missed her. Rest in peace Gary. Big hugs Shelby as you go through this grief.

I admired his painting skills and musical talent very much. We send our deepest condolences to Shelby Lynn and the rest of his family. May Gary fly high with the angels. RIP our friend.

My condolences to all of Gary's Family. I have known Gary since we were kids. I remember walking through Arichat in my teens and hearing him call out my name. He was organizing a talent show for a family who had fallen on hard times. I told him I would sing if he did. He had never sang publicly but agreed to it. He was terrified that night but sing he did and he was amazing. That was the start of his music career and the beginning of a relationship that lasted a lifetime. Music has a way of drawing people together, and a few years later we met by chance at Michelin, me with a broken foot, and Gary driving ambulance. Music once again became our reunion and we spent the next few years talking, laughing, and singing.
I am broken hearted to hear of your passing Gary but I know that at some point I will see you again, and we'll strum and sing those great old country songs. Until them, RIP my friend.

I cherish all the memories. May God give you strength to carry on in life without him and may he RIP.

I rememberthe first time i heard Gary singing...He was living in Pictou County then and we worked together at Michelin Tire.....Went to his trailer to drop off a few CDs that he wanted to listen to
When I got there ...I knocked on his door....could hear music from inside ...so I let myself in....Gary was singing Kareoke with his back to me....didnt know I was there....I listened in total amazement while he sang several songs and finally he noticed me
the look of shock and surprise on his face.
So of course I asked him why he wasnt singing in public....not good enough for that was his answer....so began my encouragement and support ....wasnt long before Midnight Train was going concern....we were always good friends and I was a fan of the band....His tremendous vocals were loved by all....and the band was very sought after in many venues throughout the county and in venues far and wide.Gary was a fine man....a very kind man.....a huge talent and a good friend.....hes in heavens choir now....HE FLIES WITH THE ANGELS....till we meet again RIP
