Obituary of Irene Marie Gould

GOULD, Irene Marie, Potlotek It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Marie Gould of Potlotek which occurred at her residence in Potlotek on November 13, 2024. Born June 28, 1943, in Potlotek, she was the daughter of the late Noel and Isabel (Morris) Stephens. A woman of many talents and skills, she spent many years self-employed baking cakes, making dresses and dolls, and supporting family members by caring for their children. Later in life, she worked at Mi’kmawey School and then the community daycare until her retirement. Irene is survived by her daughter Paula (Jay) Marshall, Eskasoni; grandchildren, Omar (Jade) Gould, Benjamin (Pelonik) Marshall, Cagney (Jan) Marshall, Quinn (Shae) Marshall, Nikko (Lilly) Marshall, Kendra Gould, Jay (Alesha) Marshall, Omar (Neve) Gould, Maverick (Karis) Gould, Christopher (Ally) Gould, Mitchell Gould, and Quinn Dennis; great-grandchildren, Ella Doucette, Zahara Paul, Justin Paul, Benson Marshall, Scarlett Marshall, Ava Robinson, Walker Robinson-Gould, and Dax Marshall; nieces, Maureen (Ben) Webber-Vanderkooi, Shelley (Levi) Denny, Blayne Murray (Brian Johnson), Melanie (Bo) Dennis, Chrisanna Gould, Arlene Gould, Madeline (Perry) O’Reilly; nephews, Robert (Shelor) Andrews, Glen Gould, Christopher Andrews, Jaret Murray, Brennan Murray, Jonathan Andrews; cousin and best friend Viola Christmas; Godchildren, Francis Doucette, Nancy Battiste, Sonya Marshall, and Stewart Benoit; She is also survived by several Great-nieces and nephews. Irene will sadly be missed by her beloved pets, Bentley, Davina, and Min. Besides her parent, she was predeceased by her husband, Stewart Michael Gould; grandson, Stephen Charles Denny; sisters, Theresa Stephens, and Rosanne Murray; brothers, Joseph Stephens, and George Stevens; great-grandnephew, Eric Johnson. Visitation will be held in the Blessed Kateri Tekawitha Chapel in Potlotek from 8 pm on Sunday, November 17th until Tuesday, November 19th at 10:00 am. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in St. Peters on Tuesday, November 19th at 11 am with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Burial in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Barra Head at a later date. A Salité will be held in the Potlotek Community Hall following the Funeral Mass. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H.
