Obituary of Leo ArthurBoudreau

Please share a memory of Leo to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
BOUDREAU, Leo - Leo Boudreau was more than a father, brother, husband, son or uncle. From serving with the 173rd Airborne Division in Vietnam, to captaining many ships, including the Maersk Virginia, Colorado and the UST Pacific, he was a man of distinction, honour and loyalty. Leo was a teacher. He raised his children to believe in themselves despite whatever company they kept. He took every opportunity he could to show "the lesson" in any situation that arose in life. Although he wasn't around for every birthday, Christmas, or special event, he made the times that he was around more significant than any and all of those events combined. He saved drawings, poems, report cards, and carried a stack of family photos with him to every corner of the world. Leo enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything else. He found happiness in everyday moments. He loved sitting with his wife by the fire, and cooking steaks on the barbeque. He loved spearmint leaves and toothpicks. He loved the history channel, the blues, mowing the law, and watching children learn how to swim in the swimming pool. Leo was brutal with the truth. Whether you loved him or hated him, you know that you got a dose of honesty when you asked for his input on anything. He didn't pull any punches, yet he was gentle and considerate when delivering the news. Leo was a storyteller. if you ever had the chance of sitting with Leo for any period of time, I'm sure you have heard about "Dad, where does pee come from?", "Tattoo? Next thing you'll have a bone through your nose!", "Tiny Toes", Jogging on the road at saint Mary's", and many, many others. Leo died on January 2, 2009. He was surrounded by loved ones as he took his last, peaceful breath. He will always be remembered for the life he led and the lives he touched. He is survived by his wife, Beverly, his daughter, Erin and his son, Leo. He never gave up, he only-as he would say-advanced to the rear. Cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of his life on Friday, January 9 at 563 Grandique Rd., from 7-9 p.m. for family and close personal friends. Arrangements entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat. To send condolences to the family, or to light a candle in memory of Leo, visit: www.chboudreau.com
