I went to high school with Jolene and knew her as a very kind and gentle soul who constantly smiled. She will be missed.

Bobby, Claire, Joey, Krista, Rafe, and Wyatt: Words cannot express how much I feel for you. I hope you are comforted by the memories of Jolene. She was a wonderful person and she faced her illness with an unrelenting courage that I have rarely seen. I got to know Jolene more closely in the last year and she taught me a lot. She was a teacher beyond what she did as an occupation. You should be very proud of her because she taught people how to live. She had it right. In the last year, when things were not going my way, I often thought of Jolene and found the strength to deal. She really was incredible. I hope that you are comforted in your grief by her strength and optimism. My heart goes out to you and you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

With a heavy heart, I find myself writing this message to you - Jolene's family, children, friends and students. The news of her death brings forth such unimaginable sadness for so many. It's apparant through reading all of these heartfelt memories that she truly did touch so many -- a true reflection of her sincere love of life. My memories of Jolene date way back to playhouse days in the backyard "down the hill" =) Although it had been but a short while since I had last seen her, I will always remember her pleasant smile and infectious laugh!
