Obituary of Ellen Jane Samson
Samson, Ellen Jane - Louisdale
It is with a shattered heart that I announce the passing of my mother … my best friend, Ellen Jane Samson of Louisdale on Monday, January 7th, 2019 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital in Antigonish after an 8-month battle with Cancer. Born August 3, 1945 at home in Louisdale she was the daughter of the late Felix and Lillian (Burke) Samson. Ellen Jane is survived by her only daughter, Shelley Landry (Sheldon Noble), Clydesdale, but also by the very first children who stole her heart, Donna MacDonald, Sackville, David Marchand, Courtice, ON, who mom loved as her own; also left to grieve are her grandchildren Emma, Dartmouth, Robert (Sarah) Noble and Riley Noble both of Antigonish. Mom had a tough life, but it was made easier by her siblings and family whose hearts are also breaking: Patsy Marchand (Venere), Estelle Landry, Herman Samson (Mary), Carl Samson (Joan), Roy Samson (Eleanor), all of Louisdale, Joan Benoit (Stanley), Petit de Grat, and Richard Marchand, Louisdale who was like a brother to mom. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by the love of her life, Andrew Campbell, Sydney; brothers, Joseph Samson “Teddy”, Vincent Samson and Terrance Samson; sister, Sylvia Landry. I would like to thank all of the staff on 4th floor Oncology at St. Martha’s for the excellent care mom was given during her treatments, especially Dr. Ron McCormick who’s compassion will never be forgotten, Dr. Cooper, Nancy Cameron and all the nurses and staff that provided support to us as we cared for mom. Also, to the staff in Palliative Care at St. Martha’s for making my moms last days so peaceful. Finally, I would like to say thank you to my Aunt Eleanor Samson, who mom always said was more than a sister in law to her. My Auntie was mom’s angel on earth and my rock through it all. We love you more Auntie. Although my mom didn’t travel, she still managed to touch the hearts of all who came in contact with her. She loved with everything she had and ended up with lots of kids who called her “Nanny” and she loved them all so much. To say I will miss you mom is an understatement. Till we meet again mom, always remember that “I love you funny face.” Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation per request. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 11:00 am in St. Louis Church, Louisdale with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac presiding. A reception will be held following the mass in St Louis Parish Hall, Louisdale. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Ellen Jane to the St. Martha’s Palliative Care unit, or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat. To send words of comfort to the family or to light a candle in memory of Ellen Jane, please visit www.chboudreau.com.
