Val and family. George & Paula as well were an important part of my life.They were important to my mother so my relationship with them was inevitable and perhaps preordained as my mother was George's godmother. She talked of taking him to his first movie and then having to entertain him when the movie was too scary. My children Morgan & Ainsley happily visited Barra Head, picked blueberries & ate the muffins that Paula created from them. My husband David enjoyed visiting in Barra Head and it is safe to say that we spent time with George & Paula on every NS visit over the last 35 or so years. And, David & I always commented that George's parker house rolls could only have been created by an engineer and perhaps one with a slide rule; every one was perfectly shaped and exactly the same as the others! And, when he came to Victoria, we attended a lecture by the wife of Mahar Arar at the university here. He will be so missed!
